Vests!

Vests. One of my favorite articles of clothing that just happens to be great for all types of weather. There's the thin knit vest for summer, the thicker denim vest for the cool spring and fall, and the cozy faux fur vest for those chilly winter days. Not only are they great year round, but they also can be altered to fit anyone's style. I personally prefer a bold denim vest with studs on the collar, while other prefer a thin lace vest. It's a great addition to any outfit - formal or casual - and adds that extra bit of edge you were looking for.

Boy meets Girl

If it looks so good on men, why not on women too? Boyfriend blazers, skinny ties, and oxfords are my personal favorites of menswear apparel. Pairing either a blazer or some oxfords with a girly dress is a lovely ensemble that keeps you from looking too boyish. If you're daring and don't ming double takes, go for the whole getup of a white button-up, skinny tie, and a blazer. Maybe even a bowler hat as well, such as Rachel Bilson's addition.

Doesn't work so well the other way around...

Chunky Knits

Thick knit sweaters make an appearance quite a lot in my winter wardrobe. Paired with tights/leggings and some clunky boots, these sweaters are a cozy way to look fashionable in the cold winter air. Once spring hits and the sun starts to peak through the clouds, these chunky knits can be converted to cute spring dressed with the addition of a belt and heels, while warming you up from the cool spring breeze.

Mix it up

Go ahead and do it. Disregard the bickering fashion police and wear your striped cardigan with a floral dress. Who cares about fashion do's and dont's. Fashion isn't about that anyway. It's about expression and doing your own thing, not following someone else's footsteps (getting inspired by trends is perfectly suitable, however). And you know what? Turns out this fashion no-no turned out to be quite a fashion yes-yes. The mix of multiple patterns and prints is a unique and fashionable style choice.

Military Style

The armed forces are a great influence on the lives of Americans, so fittingly, they influence our fashion as well. Everything from pants to jackets to studded combat boots shows up on the runway. Whether you're going for a badass look with studs and dark detailing or a sweet girly girl appearance with floral prints and olive green cargo pants, this influence can apply to any style.
